“FAN CLUB”
We would like to invite you to participate in our new annual support
campaign by becoming a member of the Warren Twp. Community Center “Fan Club”.
This is our 8th year of operation, and we have had the pleasure of offering many programs to our community; Monday lunches for a mere donation, the “Loft” Thrift shop, Mommy and Me mother and child enrichment, free blood screenings, after-school programming, car shows, fishing shows, community dinners, “Reason for the Season” campaign to help our area families at Christmas, free computer/internet usage, adult nights with weight loss support, men’s basketball, corn hole, 4-H clubs / youth organizations facility usage, facility rentals, all the while working with many area agencies and so much more. Our purpose is to add value to our community.
In order to do this, we have many financial needs to balance. We have our utilities (which was over $16,000 last year or roughly $43.00 per day), our phone/ internet bill (about $1320 per year), our youth program (can run $10,000), various other programs/special events, building repairs, building upgrades, special projects and supplies, promotional costs, just to name a few. Please notice this does not include any allocation for paid staff because we are completely operated by dedicated volunteers. It is truly a labor of love serving this community. Volunteers do at least three fundraisers each year to aid in covering the costs, but none of these come close to meeting our needs.
Our Monday Lunches bring in about $22,000 but it costs about $24,000 to provide this program the way we currently operate it. Any funds left over (currently none); go directly to cover utilities, phone, youth and the many other costs mentioned above. While we have benefited from grants to help with various needs in the past (and will continue to in the future), it is a challenge to find different foundations to support our many needs and operational costs. Grants are one time donations. We are not subsidized by any organization and have no sustaining funds. The financial burden of the community center largely falls to a handful of volunteers. As we look to the future and make plans to increase our services, we need to come up with additional ways to meet those needs.
Because this is a Community Center, we would like to provide an opportunity for others to invest in our endeavors in a greater way by becoming a “Fan Club” member, by making a pledge, to help share and partner in that financial burden. These are indeed tough economic times, for everyone, and we want to be sure we can continue serving our area. Any help you can provide would be a direct investment back into the people in our community.
Our goal is to raise $12,000 this year through pledges and other efforts.
Keep in mind, 100% of whatever amount you donate to the Warren Twp. Community Center is tax-deductible. Not only that, but 100% of the money you donate, goes directly to help pay our increasing utility bill.
Thank you for all of your support! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at the center’s phone at 330-365-9240!
Sincerely,
Portia King and the Warren Twp. Community Center Volunteers
